Okan Buruk Admits Osimhen’s Absence Hurting Galatasaray

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has admitted that his side are feeling the absence of striker Victor Osimhen following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Kocaelispor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The reigning champions were held at RAMS Park in a match that saw their lead at the top of the table reduced, increasing pressure in the title race as the season approaches its decisive stages.

Despite dominating portions of the game, Galatasaray struggled to convert chances into goals, a problem Buruk partly linked to the absence of his key forward.

Osimhen, who has been sidelined through injury, has now missed several consecutive matches, and his absence continues to be felt in the team’s attacking structure.

Buruk acknowledged that the squad has found it difficult to maintain its usual sharpness in front of goal without the Nigerian striker leading the line.

According to the coach, the team has also been dealing with fatigue due to a congested fixture schedule, with several players reportedly not fully fit. He explained that injuries within the squad have limited his tactical options and affected overall performance levels.

Galatasaray created several opportunities during the draw but lacked the clinical finishing that has often defined their performances this season. The dropped points now tighten the title race, leaving little margin for error in upcoming fixtures.

Buruk emphasized that Osimhen’s presence brings not only goals but also movement, physical strength, and a focal point in attack that helps open up space for other players.

Without him, the team has had to adjust its approach, but results have shown the challenge of replicating his impact.
