Spurs Reach Verbal Agreement to Sign Andy Robertson

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a summer deal for experienced left-back Andy Robertson, with a verbal agreement already said to be in place, according to reports.

The proposed move is expected to go ahead only if Tottenham Hotspur secure their place in the Premier League for next season, as the club continues to battle a difficult campaign that has left them in a precarious position near the relegation zone.

Robertson was previously close to making the switch during the January transfer window, but the deal collapsed after Liverpool were unable to bring in a replacement at the time.

However, with the situation now different and his future at Liverpool FC nearing its conclusion, a summer exit appears increasingly likely.

Liverpool have already confirmed that the Scotland international will depart when his contract expires, bringing an end to a highly successful spell at Anfield.

The left-back has enjoyed a decorated career with the Reds, becoming one of the most influential full-backs in the Premier League era.

At Spurs, incoming manager Roberto De Zerbi is believed to be a strong supporter of the move, viewing Robertson’s experience and leadership as key assets for rebuilding the squad.

His attacking quality from the left flank and vast top-flight experience are seen as valuable additions to Tottenham’s long-term plans.

However, the deal remains dependent on Tottenham’s league status. The North London club are currently enduring a poor run of form, having gone 12 league games without a win, a streak that has dragged them into the relegation battle. They are also two points from safety with matches still to play.

Robertson, who has made 31 appearances this season mostly from the bench, remains one of the most productive full-backs in Premier League history, holding the assist record with 60 to his name.

As the season reaches its decisive stage, Tottenham’s survival could determine whether the Scottish defender becomes one of their first major signings of the summer window.
