Vinícius Jr Plays Down Brazil’s Chances for 2026 World Cup

Vinícius Júnior has insisted that Brazil should not be considered favourites to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their rich football history and global reputation.

The Brazil national football team forward made this known while speaking to the media ahead of their international friendly clash with France.

According to the Real Madrid winger, Brazil’s recent performances do not justify placing them among the top contenders for the tournament.

Vinícius admitted that results in recent matches have not been convincing enough to earn the team the “favourites” tag.

However, he emphasized that the squad still possesses immense quality and experience capable of turning things around before the competition begins.

He pointed out that the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti has helped improve the team’s understanding on the pitch. The Brazilian star noted that the new tactical direction under Ancelotti has eased pressure on the players and created a more unified approach within the squad.

Despite downplaying expectations, Vinícius made it clear that Brazil’s ambition remains unchanged. He stressed that the team is focused on returning to the top of world football rather than being labeled as favourites before the tournament begins.

The winger added that unity among players will be key if Brazil are to compete at the highest level and challenge for the trophy. He maintained that the team is determined to give everything on the pitch in pursuit of success.

Brazil, five-time world champions, will be aiming to reclaim global dominance at the 2026 tournament, but Vinícius believes their journey must be built on performance, not reputation alone.
