Chelsea Stun PSG 3-0 to Claim Historic Club World Cup Title

Cole Palmer delivered a stunning performance as Chelsea thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey. The 22-year-old English star scored twice and assisted the third goal, leading Chelsea to a historic victory over the reigning European champions.

PSG, fresh off their Champions League triumph, were the favourites heading into the clash. However, Chelsea turned the script around within the first 45 minutes. Palmer broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute after Malo Gusto’s deflected effort set him up. Minutes later, he doubled Chelsea’s lead, finishing off a quick counter-attack with a precise low shot.

The Blues extended their lead before halftime when Palmer assisted Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, who slotted home to make it 3-0. PSG struggled to mount a response, and their frustrations boiled over when Joao Neves was shown a red card in the 86th minute for pulling Marc Cucurella by the hair off the ball, following a VAR review.

With the win, Chelsea became the inaugural champions of the expanded 32-team Club World Cup. The victory also capped a brilliant season that saw them finish fourth in the Premier League and win the UEFA Conference League. The London club reportedly earned around \$125 million in prize money.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, were among the 81,000 fans in attendance, adding to the star-studded spectacle which featured a first-ever FIFA halftime show.

While PSG will regroup ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Tottenham, Chelsea will savour a memorable night and their growing global reputation.
