DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S CUP ENDS IN LAGOS

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs Adebisi Sarah Sosan

The first edition of the Lagos State Deputy Governor Women's Cup has been won by BRF Fans Club of Lagos Island. The team beat Aspirant Queen of Yaba Local Government Development Council by 3-0.

Sponsor of the competition and the state's deputy governor, Sarah Sosan, said she was happy that the aim of the competition was realised.

She said, 'I am happy that Lagos state government is the first state government to hold the first female football competition in the country. There had been to much concentration of sponsorship on male football, our female equally deserved attention too.

'There are lots of talents in female football in this country and the only way of discovering them is through competitions.

'I am excited when the state football coach said that 30 of them had been discovered and they will represent the state at the forthcoming National Sports Festival. They will be kept together and nurtured to represent the state at national competitions.'
