Congo Need $230m For U-23 Championship

Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have announced a provisional budget of $230 million to host the 2015 Caf U-23 Championship after the central African country was selected to organise the event.

The sports ministry said about $200 million will be spent on rehabilitation of stadiums and other infrastructure following the poor state of the country's sport facilities.

Three stadiums in the capital Kinshasa - Martyrs, Cardinal Malula and Velodrome - and two in Lubumbashi - Frederic Kibassa Maliba and Lupopo - will be used for the tournament.

The Caf U-23 Championship is held every four years with the top three teams qualifying to the Olympic Games.

The previous edition was held in Morocco with Gabon emerging as champions.
