STAKEHOLDERS TASKED ON GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION

Former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Hajo Sani, has called on Nigerians to support girl-child education for the development of the country.

She made the call yesterday while speaking at the Tozali Magazine Henna Ball and award night in Abuja .

She called on the Federal Government, NGOs, media and parents to assist girls realise their dreams in the society.

She also made case for a change of societal attitude which mostly gives preference to boy child education at the expense of the girl child.

Earlier, Publisher of Tozali Magazine, Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar, said the Henna ball and award night was to celebrate the Nigerian  woman, achievement, culture, class and also support girl-child education with part of the revenue accruing from the event.

Highlights of the event were the conferment of different categories of awards to people who have distinguished themselves in various fields. Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema won the Governor of the year award; Rep. Farouk Lawal won the outstanding lawmaker; wife of the Gombe State Governor, Hajiya Umma Dankwambo, won the most performing pet project award while Hajo Sani won the woman of the year category.
