CONTEMPT: COURT SUMMONS FAAN BOSS

By Innocent Anaba
Lagos - A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, ordered Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, to appear before it on April 4, to answer to contempt charge against him.

Trial judge, Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, gave the order in her ruling in the contempt proceeding by Maevis Nigeria Limited against FAAN, over an earlier order of the court, for parties to maintain the subject matter of the suit, which is Maevis airports' concession contract. The earlier order was made on September 24, 2010.

Maevis is the concessionaire to FAAN on the provision of the Airport Operations Management System, AOMS, platform in four international airports in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port-Harcourt.

At the hearing in the matter, yesterday, Maevis' counsel, reminded the court that FAAN's counsel, had on May 19, 2011 undertaken on behalf of FAAN, that the subject matter, the contract, would be preserved.

Maevis added that FAAN 'has engaged in serious actions which undermine the authority of the court, culminating in the displacement of Maevis and its staff from their offices at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe Aiport, Abuja.'
