DELTA IPMAN BLAMES FUEL SCARCITY ON PPMC, WRPC

By  Emma Arubi
WARRI-Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has denied responsibility for the on-going fuel scarcity in Delta State, blaming the situation on the inability of Pipeline Products Marketing Company, PPMC and Warri Refineries and Petro-chemical Company, WRPC,  to supply its members with the product.

State Chairman of IPMAN, Chief Akpos Edafevwotu, who exonerated his union of any complicity in the matter, said they should be commended instead.

He said motorists and other users of the product should commend IPMAN for taking the pains to go as far as Lagos and other private depots to obtain fuel and bring same to Warri and the entire Delta State.

On why the price of fuel has soared, the IPMAN boss said: 'It costs us (marketers) N115.00 per litre to buy and transport the product from outside depots, so we have to sell at between N120 and N125 per litre.'

He attributed the scarcity and hike in fuel price to the inability of WRPC, to supply petroleum products to independent marketers for onward distribution to consumers.
