INEC Shifts Adamawa Poll By One Week

SAN FRANCISCO, January 11, (THEWILL) - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shifted the Governorship election for Adamawa State by one week, in view of the prevailing situation in state, according to a Tuesday statement by the body.

The governorship election will now hold on Saturday, January 21st, 2012, instead of January 14th, 2012 as earlier scheduled.


“INEC reassures all Nigerians – Adamawa State residents in particular – of its determination to conduct free, fair and credible election in the state.

“The Commission is working very closely with all stakeholders, including security agencies, to ensure a conducive environment for the conduct of the election,” the statement by Chairman, Professor Attahiru M. Jega added.
