KWANKWASO SACKS SHEKARAU'S TAX CONSULTANTS

KANO - Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State has disengaged services of tax consultants engaged by his predecessor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau as part of efforts to reinvigorate activities of the state Board of Internal Revenue, BIR.

Kwankwaso's action came against the background of efforts by the state government to generate more revenue to complement allocations from the Federation Account.

Kwankwaso said: 'The imperative of revenue generation to development,  has now been granted to the Board of Internal Revenue to function effectively'.

The governor who spoke during an interactive session with members of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC at the government house stated that his administration was goal-oriented and would focus more on internally generated revenue.

Governor Kwankwaso said within the last few days, his government has recorded numerous achievement, requesting for support of RMAFC  in its quest to make Kano more fiscally strong.

He thanked the visiting members of the commission for showing concern to the state which he said would boost the government's morale.

Earlier, the Commissioner representing Kano on the board of RMAFC, Engr. Bala Borodo expressed the commissions' willingness to collaborate with the state government to improve its sources of revenue in view of the development challenges ahead.

He said with Kano 's position as a leading commercial centre with the largest number of local government councils in the country, there was the need to generate enough funds to go round the three  tiers of government.
