PENGASSAN LAUDS TOTAL

The 3rd Triennial National Delegates Conference of PENGASSAN, the umbrella union of senior staff in Nigeria's oil and gas industry has lauded Total Upstream Compnies in Nigeria for its examplary conduct.

The conference which provided another opportunity for the union to review its strategy for appropriate positioning in the scheme of things in the industry was held in Abuja recently.

The forum which was used to bestow an award on Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria, among others, was for being an 'Exemplary Social Partner Award' and was 'in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Harmonious Labour Relations in the Oil and Gas Industry in particular and Nigeria in general'. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) represented by its Group Managing Director, Mr. Austen Oniwon also received an award. Other individual award recipients included the former Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity Dr (Mrs) Timiebi Koripamo-Agary and former Director, Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations at the Federal Ministry of Labour, Mrs Omolara Olarenwaju.

To receive the award on behalf of Total was the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, Mr. John Addeh. Other members of the company's delegation to the event were the General Manager, Human Resources, Mrs Edith Ofili-Okonkwo; Deputy General Manager, Employee Relations and Benefits, Mr. Paul Odekina; the Industrial Relations Manager, Mr. Alexander Akalazu and Mrs Chinwe Owete, who is on secondment from Total Upstream Companies to the Nigerian Content Monitoring and Regulatory Board.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mrs. Koripamo-Agary thanked the executive of PENGASSAN for recognising some of the people and institutions that had helped to promote industrial harmony in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria over the years.
