Shekarau Booed At Polling Centre

KANO, April 02, (THEWILL) The All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) Presidential candidate and Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau was today booed at his Giginyu polling centre in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State .

Many youths from the area were heard chanting in Hausa, “Bamayi Bamayi, Sai Buhari”, meaning, “we don’t want you, we prefer Buhari.”

Following the embarrassing situation and fearing an outbreak of violence, security aides attached to the Governor quickly swung into action and smuggled him out of the polling premises.

The affront on Shekarau was however not well received by his supporters in the ANPP, who expressed dismay at the treatment handed him but were restrained by the presence of weapon wielding thugs that turned up at the centre before the postponement of the polls nationwide by the electoral commission.

Shekarau and General Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) are expected to do well in Kano State.
