NUPENG ISSUES 24-HOUR STRIKE NOTICE TO CHEVRON

WARRI-NATIONAL Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, yesterday, gave  Chevron Nigeria Limited, up till end of today, to  resolve all issues involving contract workers of Patonosen Enterprise Nigeria Ltd and Joceco Nigeria Ltd in line with the meeting of  March 11, 2011, or risk industrial unrest.

Warri Zonal Council of NUPENG, in a statement, in Warri, Delta State, by its chairman, Mr Edmond Ofuje, after a

meeting on the  issues affecting the contract workers of Patonosen and Joceco, said, 'workers of two companies

must not re-apply for the jobs they have been doing in Chevron for the past 25 years in the new contract, since

this demand by Chevron is targeted at de-unionizing the workers and to reduce existing workers

benefit/remuneration. Chevron  should adhere to the directives by Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity Abuja.'
