Adeyemi Provides Clarification on PFIPC Budget Inclusion Controversy
The embattled Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi , claimed to have personally spearheaded efforts to secure the organisation's inclusion in the Federal Government’s budget prior to his arrest. Adeniyi disclosed these details during an interview with social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, which was released following the Director-General's detention.
In the recorded interview, Adeniyi stated he approached officials at the Budget Office of the Federation in December 2024 to request that the PFIPC be integrated into the 2025 Appropriation Bill. However, treasury officials reportedly informed him that the window for budget submissions for the upcoming fiscal year had already closed.
Following this, budget administrators advised that the PFIPC's financial proposal could be brought forward for evaluation during the 2026 budget preparation cycle. This interaction occurred amidst scrutiny regarding the council's official recognition and attempts to secure federal office space.
“I went to that Budget Office for the 2025 budget. I submitted the letter and everything that I wanted, but I was told it was already late,” Adeniyi said.
He added that after the proposal was not reflected in the 2025 budget, officials informed him that efforts would continue towards its possible inclusion in the 2026 appropriation.
Adeniyi further claimed that a female official facilitated access to the office of the Director-General of the Budget Office before he was referred to another director to discuss the proposal.
Prince Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi maintained that all discussions regarding the budget inclusion immediately ceased following his arrest and subsequent legal troubles. He explained that a female contact who was assisting with the process tried contacting him during his detention, but he explicitly instructed her to halt all efforts regarding the proposal.
The embattled Director-General stated he was completely surprised to later discover that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) had been included in the federal budget. He argued that it would have been impossible for him to lobby for the agency's funding while actively facing court proceedings and having already vacated his official position.
Addressing accusations of financial inducement, Adeniyi strongly denied making cash payments to any government officials to fast-track the budget process. Instead, he clarified that the only incentive he ever offered was the promise of future employment opportunities for their contacts once the organisation became fully operational.
Furthermore, Adeniyi responded to separate allegations concerning a N400 million payment allegedly made to secure his appointment as the council's head. He claimed that the funds were actually delivered in United States dollars through an intermediary, identifying the associate as the late Dolapo Tanimola .
Prince Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi stated that he could not personally verify the ultimate recipient of the alleged funds, while firmly denying ever meeting the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, before or after his appointment, maintaining instead that all communications were managed exclusively on his behalf by the late Dolapo Tanimola.
