Neptune Prime Unveils Institute Of Journalism, Begins Sale Of Application Forms

Applications will soon be opened for the September 2026 intake into the Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ).

Driven by the vision of veteran journalist Dr Hassan Gimba, ANIPR, Publisher and CEO of Neptune Prime Network Nigeria Limited, publishers of one of Nigeria's leading online newspapers, Neptune Prime (English and Hausa), Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ) seeks to train individuals passionate about storytelling and eager to build rewarding careers in journalism, content creation and the media.

Led by its Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr Hassan Gimba, ANIPR, the Institute's governing board comprises renowned veteran journalists, communication experts, writers, researchers, legal and administrative professionals, business leaders, and distinguished academics, among other accomplished professionals.

The board consists of Dr Gimba, founder of the Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism, an award-winning Nigerian journalist, public commentator, and online publisher. He is a celebrated author who has written over 1,000 articles, primarily on politics, good governance, and security.

Garba Mamu, Chairman, Advisory Board, a seasoned journalist and communications expert who was a former General Manager and later Executive Director of NTA and was a Board Member of the News Agency of Nigeria from 2009 to 2011.

Shu’aibu Usman Leman, Vice Chairman 1, is a veteran journalist, media administrator, and researcher with over three decades of experience dedicated to strengthening institutional integrity. He is a former National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Shettima Bukar Imam, Vice Chairman 2, was the General Manager of Maiduguri Monday Market and also served as Depot Manager at NNPC, Kaduna. He currently serves as the Executive Vice Chairman of Cleanergy Innovation Ltd.

Suleiman Gimba Hassan, Esq, Vice Chairman 3, is an Abuja-based lawyer, legislative advocate, and entrepreneur with a strong passion for good governance, innovation, and community development. He is the Managing Director of BoldBrick Smart Homes.

Dr Rachael O. Ojeka-John, Member, Advisory Board, Academic/Curriculum, is a lecturer, communication researcher, and media educator with expertise in journalism, strategic communication, and health communication. She is an experienced teacher, researcher, and academic mentor.

Danlami R. Nmodu, mni, Board Member, is a journalist and editor with a proven track record in the Nigerian media space. He is the founder and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Newsdiaryonline and the incumbent President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).

Dr Saleh Mari Maina, Member, Advisory Board, is an experienced journalist and renowned editor with over 30 years of experience in journalism. He has also worked as a lecturer at various Nigerian universities.

Halima Abdulrauf, Member, Advisory Board, is a Nigerian international multimedia journalist, media consultant, and media entrepreneur. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of S24 Media Services, the parent company of S24 Television.

Gift Luckson, Deputy Coordinator, Academics, is a Nigerian journalist and writer known for her insightful reporting and commitment to quality journalism. She reports on politics, international affairs, social issues, and human-interest stories.

Aminu Abubakar Sadiq, Acting Registrar, a seasoned administrator and public service expert who served in the Federal Civil Service as an Administrative Officer from 1993 before retiring as an Assistant Director in 2011.

Lilian Hosea, Assistant Registrar 1, is a teacher and administrator with almost two decades of experience in both fields. As an Administrative Manager, she oversees office workflows, manages correspondence, and performs a wide range of administrative responsibilities.

Tawheed Yakub, Assistant Registrar 2, is a journalist, editor, and media communications professional with experience in news reporting, editing, digital media management, public relations, education, and administration.

Other members of the board include Charles Onunaiju, Member, Advisory Board, a Nigerian scholar, author, journalist, and one of Africa’s foremost commentators on China–Africa relations. He is a prolific writer and public intellectual who has authored several influential books.

Mohammed Salisu Adamu, Member, Advisory Board, studied at various institutions across Nigeria in pursuit of knowledge and personal development. He worked with the Nigeria Customs Service from 1990 to 1992 before venturing into business.

Engr. Aminu Abubakar Yabo, a Board Member who holds a PhD in Leadership and Management, is a Telecommunications Engineer and Cule Network Professional. He is a fellow, permanent member and life member of the prestigious and multidisciplinary institute, the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and other professional bodies.

Amina Musa Kida, Member, Advisory Board, a legal professional with experience in banking, management, and international relations. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to personal growth, hard work, and professional excellence.

Jamila Muhammad Kolo, Deputy Coordinator, Admin, a seasoned executive, education administrator, and business leader with over three decades of experience in education, corporate leadership, strategic management, marketing, and business development.
