Court Orders Arrest Of Adeyemi After Absence From Fake Agency Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment on charges regarding the activities of the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Justice Mohammed Umar issued the arrest warrant on Tuesday following an oral application by the prosecution.

The judge rejected Adeyemi’s lawyer excuse, who said his client was absent from court because he feared for his life and that he had written a letter to President Bola Tinubu regarding it.

He added that Adeyemi intended to stay alive to face his trial.

However, Justice Umar responded by telling the lawyer that the court would “help him to be alive.”

The judge then issued a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest.

He then set 30 September as the new date for defendant’s arraignment.

Adeyemi faces eight charges relating forgery and impersonation over the existence of the PFIPC

The presidency has said the council does not exist and that Adeyemi was never appointed by the office of the chief of staff to the president.

On July 7, President Bola Tinubu gave 30-day ultimatum to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a “thorough investigation” into the PFIPC controversy.
