Major Security Breakthrough As Troops Bust Illegal Arms Factory In Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma (JTF NW OPFY), have dismantled a criminal syndicate involved in manufacturing and supplying locally fabricated firearms to terrorist groups operating in Kebbi State. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops raided a secluded compound deliberately concealed by the suspects to evade security detection. During a thorough search of the premises, military personnel successfully recovered five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and arrested two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers.

This breakthrough was contained in a formal press statement issued by the Media Information Officer for JTF NW OPFY, Lt. Colonel Aliyu Danja, and made available to journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital. According to the official communication, the successful raid highlights the strategic value of real-time intelligence gathering in high-risk zones. The arrests represent a significant blow to the operational capabilities of armed bandits relying on local supply chains.

The statement further explained that the operation was conducted in close collaboration with other sister security agencies, emphasizing the growing effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation. This synergy remains central to ongoing military efforts aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics and degrading criminal networks across the North-West region. By cutting off local weapons manufacturing, security forces continue to neutralize emerging threats to public safety.

“The successful raid represents another major step in Operation Fansan Yamma’s sustained campaign to curb the proliferation of illicit arms and deny terrorists access to weapons used to perpetrate violence”, the statement noted

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary interrogation, while investigations have commenced to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, uncover their financiers and collaborators, and dismantle the entire illegal arms supply network.

The statement added that the Theatre Command commended the professionalism and commitment of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation.

It further urges residents of the North-West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, as public cooperation remains vital to sustaining ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements and enhance security across the region.
