President Tinubu’s Efforts Toward Insecurity Should Be Recognised— Plateau Lawmaker

Hon. Yusuf Gagdi

A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has asked Nigerians to acknowledged the efforts being made President Bola Tinubu’s administration to address insecurity, even though the challenge has not been fully resolved.

Gagdi, who represents the Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke federal constituency of Plateau state, spoke on Tuesday on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He argued that it would be unfair to claim that the federal government has done nothing to tackle insecurity.

“If the truth be told, I will say the truth irrespective of your understanding about the truth that I am saying,” he said.

“I will not refuse to tell you here that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not make any effort towards solving the security problem.

“Promising to fix the security problem and putting effort towards fixing the security problem should both be recognised.”

The lawmaker said the government’s inability to eliminate insecurity does not mean it has abandoned its commitment to addressing the challenge.

Gagdi also said he had criticised some of the administration’s security policies on the floor of the house.

However, he accused some opposition figures of using the country’s security challenges to pursue political objectives rather than offering solutions.

The lawmaker said some political leaders appear to take satisfaction in highlighting the hardships Nigerians are facing instead of proposing ways to address the problems.

He said public discourse should focus on constructive solutions rather than exploiting insecurity for partisan advantage.
