May Allah Forgive Nigeria and Africa and Guide Us Towards Prosperity
Allah (SWT) has blessed Nigeria and Africa with abundant natural and human resources that many nations can only dream of possessing. From fertile lands to oil, gas, gold, lithium, rare earth elements, and other strategic minerals, our continent remains one of the richest regions on earth. The recent discovery of vast deposits of lithium, platinum group metals, gold, nickel, copper, and rare earth elements in Kaduna State is yet another testimony to Allah's immeasurable favour upon Nigeria. These are the very resources driving the modern world electric vehicles, renewable energy, advanced technology, and industrial transformation.
Yet, despite these divine blessings, many of our people continue to experience hardship and poverty. This should compel all of us to reflect deeply.
Allah says in the Noble Qur'an: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves." (Qur'an 13:11)
Our greatest enemies are not a lack of resources but the destructive vices that have hindered our collective progress for decades:
Selfishness that places personal interest above national interest.
Corruption that steals from both present and future generations.
Insincerity and betrayal in our dealings with one another.
Poor orientation and the abandonment of patriotism and communal responsibility.
Religious identity without genuine fear of Allah, moral discipline, and justice.
Many of us know religion, but we have not fully embraced the values that religion teaches truthfulness, trustworthiness, compassion, accountability, and love for humanity. The late South African leader, Nelson Mandela, once said: "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."
Likewise, the great Muslim scholar Ibn Khaldun observed that: "Injustice brings about the ruin of civilisation." History teaches us that nations do not collapse because they lack resources; they decline when corruption, greed, injustice, and disunity become stronger than patriotism and collective responsibility.
I therefore humbly appeal to our leaders and citizens alike: for the sake of future generations, let us seek Allah's forgiveness, embrace justice, promote honesty, and place the interests of Nigeria above personal gain. Leadership is a trust (amanah), and every leader will account for that trust before Allah. May Allah remove every factor that has held Nigeria and Africa back. May He replace corruption with integrity, selfishness with patriotism, hatred with unity, and injustice with fairness.
Our prayer:
O Allah, forgive Nigeria and the entire African continent. Bless our leaders with wisdom, sincerity, and the fear of You. Purify our hearts from greed and corruption. Unite our people upon truth and justice. Grant us the ability to utilise the abundant resources You have given us for the benefit of humanity. Make Nigeria a land of peace, prosperity, knowledge, technological advancement, and righteous leadership. Ameen. Indeed, Allah has blessed us abundantly. The challenge before us is whether we can build the character, institutions, and unity necessary to transform those blessings into prosperity for all.
