BUA Group Refutes Claims Of 70% Kano Pillars FC Take Over

Nigerian conglomerate BUA Group has officially dismissed widespread online reports claiming that the company and its billionaire Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, submitted a bid to acquire a 70% controlling stake in Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars Football Club, stating unequivocally that no such transaction or discussion has taken place.

In a statement released on Sunday, June 29, 2026, the company described the online publication as “inaccurate” and said it does not reflect any position, action, or communication from BUA Group or its Chairman. “Our attention has been drawn to an online publication suggesting that BUA Group and its Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, have submitted a bid to acquire a 70% stake in Kano Pillars Football Club,” the statement read. “We would like to clarify that this report is inaccurate and does not reflect any position, action, or communication from BUA Group or Abdul Samad Rabiu. No such bid has been made, and there has been no engagement with any party on this matter.”

The company urged the public and media organisations to disregard the report and to rely only on official communications issued through its verified channels for information on its activities. “We kindly request that this report be disregarded, and we encourage the public and members of the press to rely only on official statements issued through BUA Group’s verified channels for accurate information regarding our activities,” it added.

The statement signed by the management of BUA Group concluded by expressing appreciation to the public for their continued interest and understanding regarding the brand's activities. The denial follows a wave of speculation that circulated across social media platforms over the weekend, hinting at a major private injection of capital into the prominent team .

As one of Nigeria's most widely followed and supported football clubs, any potential changes to the financial or ownership structure of Kano Pillars FC naturally generates significant national interest. While this specific acquisition bid has been completely debunked, the rumors highlighted the ongoing conversations surrounding private investment in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
