FG Hails 16-year-old Girl After Emerging Nigeria’s Youngest Chartered Accountant
The Federal Government has celebrated 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye following her emergence as Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant, describing her achievement as a symbol of the immense potential of the country's young people.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, conveyed the government's commendation in a statement issued on Monday, praising the teenager's exceptional accomplishment.
According to the minister, Okundaye's success reflects the values of diligence, resilience, discipline and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.
"I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria's youngest chartered accountant at just 16 years of age. This remarkable milestone is a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence," he stated.
Olawande said the teenager's accomplishment has positioned her as a role model for millions of young Nigerians, demonstrating that age is not a barrier to extraordinary achievements.
He noted that her feat should inspire other youths across the country to pursue their dreams with determination and dedication.
"Osasere has distinguished herself as a shining example of the limitless potential of Nigerian youth. Her accomplishment reminds us that with determination, dedication and the right support, young Nigerians can break barriers, set new records and inspire a generation to dream bigger and strive for excellence,” the minister added.
The minister also extended congratulations to the teenager's parents, teachers, mentors and family members, acknowledging their contributions and support throughout her journey to professional success.
He stressed that their sacrifices and confidence in her abilities played a crucial role in helping her attain the remarkable milestone.
Reaffirming the Federal Government's commitment to youth empowerment, Olawande said the Ministry of Youth Development would continue to implement programmes and policies aimed at creating opportunities for young Nigerians to realise their full potential.
He expressed optimism that achievements such as Okundaye's reinforce confidence in the future of the country.
"Osasere's achievement reinforces our confidence that the future of Nigeria is bright in the hands of focused, determined and talented young citizens,” he said.
The minister further wished the teenager greater accomplishments in the future and expressed hope that her inspiring story would motivate millions of young Nigerians to pursue excellence in their chosen fields.
Okundaye secured the record after successfully qualifying as a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), becoming the youngest person ever to attain the prestigious professional certification in the country.
Her accomplishment eclipses the previous record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who achieved the same feat at the age of 17 after completing ICAN's rigorous professional examinations.
The chartered accountancy qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's most demanding professional certifications and is typically earned by university graduates and professionals after several years of intensive study and examinations.
