Imo Police Storm Forest, Hideout Rescue Abducted Victim

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command, under the direct supervision of Commissioner Garba Bosso, successfully rescued an abducted victim during a coordinated forest clearance operation in Owerri West Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence regarding criminal hideouts, a joint team of police officers and local vigilantes combed the dense Nekede, Ihiagwa, and Agbala forest axes on June 27, 2026. The rescued victim, who had sustained injuries, was immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, the tactical operation was executed in alignment with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police. This security mandate was transmitted through DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East Zone, as part of an aggressive campaign to dismantle criminal camps. CP Bosso commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged residents to remain vigilant, reaffirming the command's commitment to ensuring Imo State remains entirely hostile to criminal elements.

During the sweep, police rescued Chinonaobi Uchegbulam, male, of Ubaha Orodo, from a forest hideout. The victim was found injured and was immediately evacuated to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding positively.

CP Bosso commended the security operatives for their courage and professionalism during the mission, reaffirming that the Command will aggressively sustain intelligence-led operations to ensure Imo State remains completely hostile to criminal elements . To support these ongoing security efforts, DSP Okoye Henry strongly urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency telephone line. Ultimately, the police emphasized that timely, credible information from the public remains an absolutely critical tool for dismantling safe havens and effectively tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
