Trump Threatens To ‘Hit Iran Very Hard’ Over Hezbollah Actions
United States President, Donald Trump, has threatened to kick off further military action if authorities in Iran fail to rein in its allied groups in the Middle East.
In a statement post made on Sunday, Trump declared, “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid proxies in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don't, we will hit them very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder.”
The warning comes amid renewed tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border and follows concerns that hostilities involving Hezbollah could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
Earlier, Israel's Foreign Affairs Ministry wrote on X, “While Israel and Lebanon pursue peace talks, Hezbollah keeps firing - seeking to derail diplomacy, tighten Iran's grip on Lebanon, and destabilize the region.”
The ministry added, “Israel will uphold the ceasefire if Hezbollah stops its attacks. Like any sovereign nation, Israel has the right to defend its citizens.”
The latest escalation comes despite a previously announced ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah that was expected to take effect on Friday.
The truce was seen as a potentially significant step toward easing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border after months of hostilities.
Trump's latest threat also comes days after a diplomatic breakthrough between Washington and Tehran, when Trump and Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian electronically signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
The agreement, known as the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding," was announced by Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, who described it as a historic diplomatic achievement.
