Adamawa Governor Orders Appointees To Resign Over Non-APC Membership

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has ordered all political appointees in his administration who are not aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to immediately resign their appointments or face dismissal.

The directive was conveyed in a statement issued by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, affected appointees have been given 48 hours to submit their resignation letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

“This directive has become necessary to preserve government loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of public service,’’ Governor Fintiri was quoted as saying.

The governor warned that political office holders are expected to remain committed to the policies and political direction of the administration, insisting that those who have shifted allegiance cannot continue to serve in government.

“Continued service by persons who have aligned with another party poses a clear risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of policy implementation and party strategy,” he said.

Wonosikou stated that the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Office of the Head of Service had been directed to compile and verify a list of all affected appointees for compliance monitoring.

The governor further warned that any appointee who fails to comply with the order within the stipulated period would face immediate consequences.

“Failure to comply with this directive within the stipulated timeframe shall result in immediate termination of appointment, cessation of all salaries, entitlements and benefits, and further administrative action,” the statement quoted him as saying.

Fintiri described the move as a necessary step to ensure loyalty within government, stressing that public office holders must be fully aligned with the administration's vision and mandate.

“Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” he added.
