Put Your Interest Aside, Remain Loyal To The Party— NDC Tells Members

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its members to place the interests of the party above personal ambitions, stressing that loyalty to the party and the national interest must remain paramount for all officials, candidates, and aspirants.

In a statement issued on June 7, 2026, by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC said it was focused on building a strong and enduring political institution anchored on party supremacy, accountability, and internal cohesion.

The party declared that governments elected on its platform must work closely with party structures in formulating policies, programmes, and appointments, except for personal staff positions.

"The party remains supreme, and members are expected to align their personal interests and agendas with those of the party," the statement said.

According to the NDC, all affiliated groups and non-governmental organisations associated with the party must operate under its supervision and should not function independently of the party's established structure.

The party also announced plans to introduce a comprehensive Code of Conduct for party officials and candidates. To facilitate this process, it disclosed that a committee headed by the National Legal Adviser had been constituted to develop the necessary framework and operational guidelines.

In a move aimed at strengthening internal unity, the NDC revealed that it had inaugurated a National Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging and reconciling aggrieved members across the country.

The party emphasized that it was being developed as a lasting institution rather than a vehicle built around any individual.

"The NDC is being built as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be used and discarded," the statement noted.

It further encouraged members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the party's growth and sustainability, describing collective loyalty as essential to achieving its long-term objectives.

The statement also highlighted the party's resolve to enforce strict financial discipline and transparency among its officers and candidates.

On party finances, the NDC said all resources must be used exclusively for party-related activities, warning that accountability would be strictly enforced at every level.

"The party will enforce strict accountability in the management of party resources by all officers, and party funds must be used strictly for party business," it stated.

The party further directed all candidates seeking elective offices to fully disclose campaign funding sources and contributions made to their campaigns. It explained that such funds must be channelled through designated party campaign accounts at the local government, state, zonal, and national levels.

According to the NDC, dedicated campaign accounts, including those for presidential and governorship elections where applicable, would serve as the official channels for receiving and managing campaign funds to ensure transparency and accountability.

The party said the measures form part of broader efforts to strengthen internal governance, promote unity, and position the NDC as a disciplined political institution capable of sustaining itself for generations.
