AHRC Wishes All Muslims a Happy Eid Al-Adha, Welcomes Unity Prayer, Urges Vigilance:

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its warmest wishes to all Muslims celebrating Eid Al-Adha, which begins on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and continues for three days.

Eid Al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, marks the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage to the holy sites in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. As the second major Islamic holiday, it honors one of the five pillars of Islam—Hajj, a sacred obligation for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey.

AHRC welcomes the 2026 “Unity and Justice” Outdoor Eid Al-Adha Prayer, which will be held on Wednesday, May 27, in front of Dearborn’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Organized by the Masjids Coordination Board (MCB) in partnership with leading mosques and Islamic organizations across Metro Detroit, and sponsored by Life for Relief and Development, this gathering is expected to bring together thousands of worshipers from across Michigan in a spirit of faith, unity, compassion, and community celebration.

AHRC urges everyone to remain vigilant during mass gatherings and encourages all Muslim centers to maintain strong safety measures to protect their communities.

This year’s Eid is bittersweet for many Muslims in America and around the world. It arrives amid national and global challenges, including rising toxic political rhetoric targeting Muslims, threats of violence and hate crimes—most recently the attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego—and the devastating toll of ongoing conflicts. These include continued Israeli war crimes in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon; humanitarian crises in Sudan and Yemen; and wars affecting Iran, Ukraine, and other regions.

AHRC deeply appreciates the dedication of law enforcement agencies working to ensure public safety during this sacred occasion, especially during Eid prayers in Dearborn, Detroit, and the greater metropolitan area.
