ICPC To Arraign Nasir El-Rufai In Kaduna Federal High Court On Tuesday

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign former Governor Nasir El-Rufai this Tuesday, March 24.

El-Rufai has remained in custody for over a month, having been detained since February 16, 2026, after reporting to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.

The EFCC initially interrogated El-Rufai for 48 hours before transferring him to ICPC custody. His extended detention sparked widespread public outcry, with various groups demanding he either be charged or released.

Responding to the pressure, ICPC spokesperson John Okor Odey confirmed on Monday that the former governor will finally be arraigned this Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

“The suit with number FHC/KD/73/2026 has charges ranging from conversion of and possession of public property, to money laundering.

“Similarly, another charge, number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, against Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and one Amadu Sule (LEDA), has also been filed before a Kaduna State High Court in the Kaduna Judicial Division.

“The charges in the State High Court case range from abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud to conferring undue advantage, among others.

“Both charges were filed by the ICPC on the 18th of March, 2026.

“The date of arraignment in the State High Court will be communicated at the appropriate time as determined by the Court.”

The ICPC confirmed that El-Rufai has been officially served with the court papers for his upcoming arraignment.
