Rivers State Governor's Friends, Including Secondus And Omehia, Vow To Back Tinubu's Re-Election
Governor Siminalayi Fubara's political associates are solidly backing President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. Fubara announced that prominent former PDP leaders and Atiku Abubakar supporters have pledged their support for Tinubu.
The associates include former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Austin Opara, former Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia, and one-time Transportation Minister Abiye Sekibo. This development marks a significant shift in political alliances.
The move is seen as a strategic boost for Tinubu's re-election campaign. Fubara spoke yesterday at the New Year banquet organised by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Port Harcourt.
He acknowledged the presence of the political figures at the event and emphasised that their decisions had dispelled claims and blackmail that he was aligning with persons working against the interests of the President.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains undaunted by political challenges, saying his trust in God gives him confidence and strength. He declared that the purpose of governance in Rivers State will be fully realized, thanks to his faith.
Fubara emphasized that he's not "barking" but understands the political terrain and has mechanisms in place to achieve his administration's objectives. He attributed criticism to a lack of understanding, saying only those who can't interpret events resort to "barking".
The governor predicted 2026 will bring "complete liberation" to Rivers State, assuring all set goals will be accomplished. He expressed confidence that supporters will be fulfilled and proud of their decisions.
Fubara noted his administration has endured numerous challenges but emerged stronger, saying battles he couldn't fight strengthened his resolve. He stressed that he's lost nothing and will recover all in time.
The governor assured his administration won't compel anyone to do wrong, harbouring no fear as he believes bridges will be crossed at the right time. He thanked distinguished guests, including Uche Secondus, Austin Opara, Celestine Omehia, and Abiye Sekibo, for standing with him.
Fubara said their support is for President Bola Tinubu and Rivers State's protection. He quoted Caesar, saying "the only reason why the dog barks, is when it doesn’t understand," affirming he's not barking because he understands.
The governor thanked guests for celebrating with him, assuring governance will continue in full force. He promised supporters will be proud and honored by his administration's achievements.
Fubara reflected on 2025, saying the journey wasn't easy but God made them stronger. He believes lessons learned will help regain lost ground in 2026.
He urged citizens to support and cooperate with his administration, standing on the side of truth. Fubara wishes everyone a Happy New Year, hoping God completes uncompleted projects and dismantles problematic things.
