Police Authorities Withdraw Escorts From Lagos Assembly Speaker, Meranda

There is indication that all police escorts assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, have been withdrawn by police authorities.

It was further gathered that the security personnel attached to the Lagos Assembly complex have also been withdrawn, leaving both the Speaker and the legislative building vulnerable.

The Special Adviser on Information to the Speaker, Victor Ganzallo, confirmed this development to newsmen on Wednesday, expressing deep concern over the abrupt withdrawal of security personnel.

“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” Ganzallo said.

He warned that the Speaker is now “vulnerable and open to attack,” emphasizing the urgent need for a resolution to the security lapse.

The reason for the withdrawal remains unclear. The Lagos State Police command has yet to issue any official statement on the development.
