I WAS NOT INVITED BY EFCC – JIGAWA COMMISSIONER

Speaking to Daily Trust on phone, Mahmoud said, 'I was neither invited by the EFCC nor arrested. I am still carrying out my routine duties in the state. In Jigawa, we are running a transparent government hence, we are not afraid of the EFCC. Governor Lamido has never interfered with the local government account and since I assumed office as commissioner, he has always released local government funds on time.'

The commissioner said the state government was ready to answer any question that the EFCC has for it as long as it was not aimed at scoring undue political goals.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad, also described the rumour as baseless and unfounded, saying, no letter was sent by the EFCC to the Jigawa State government inviting any of its officials.

The Head of Media at the EFCC, Mr Femi Babafemi, also disputed the rumour, saying, it was not true that the commission arrested or invited the Jigawa State commissioner for local government for questioning.
