Governor Nwifuru Appoints Woman Professor, Umezurike as SSG

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has appointed Professor Mrs. Grace Umezurike as the Secretary to the State government.

The announcement came some hours after swearing in 21 Senior Special and Special Assistants Friday.

In a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor, the SSG, Umezurike would be sworn-in on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

The statement reads: "The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Grace Umezurike as Secretary to Ebonyi State Government.

"The appointment takes immediate effect. "She will be sworn - in on Tuesday 13th June, 2023."

Until her appointment, Umezurike was a professor of Socio-political philosophy, Ebonyi State University.

She is the wife of the Commissioner for Health during Governor Umahi's administration, who also played some major non-political roles in the past administration.

She hails from Uburu in Ohaozara, the immediate past Governor's community and local government area.
