Pioneer First Lady In Kano State, Ladi Bako, Is Dead

Mrs. Ladi Bako, the wife of the first governor of Kano State, Audu Bako, is reported dead at the aged 93.

Her daughter Zainab Bako confirmed the death on Wednesday, saying the nonagenarian died at Prime Specialist Hospital in Kano after protracted illness.

According to reports, the funeral rites for the deceased will take place at Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, Kano.

Audu Bako was appointed military governor of the old Kano State from May 1967 to July 1975.

As military governor, Audu Bako was said to have undertaken many reforms and built institutions across the state.
