Anyim Is An Outstanding Patriot - Ifeanyi Odii
The leading governorship hopeful in Ebonyi State in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has congratulated the former president of Nigerian Senate, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, on his birthday. Senator Anyim who was born in 1961 turned 62 on 19th February, 2023.
In a birthday message to the former Senate President made available to newsmen in his campaign secretariat in Abakaliki, the governorship hopeful extolled Senator Anyim for his leadership roles in the Nigerian Senate which he began to preside over in his early forties; describing Anyim as an icon of democracy in Nigeria and an outstanding patriot. Odii prayed God to grant Anyim who had also served Nigeria in the capacity of Secretary to the Government of the Federation more impactful years.
Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii's birthday message to Anyim whom he also referred to as a "shinning star from Ebonyi State" read in part: "On behalf of myself and my family, we felicitate with our dear leader and one of the leading icons of democracy in Nigeria, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, Oshimili, on his birthday.
"Chief Anyim Pius Anyim is an outstanding patriot, a proud son of Igboland and shining star from Ebonyi State.
"Chief Anyim at the turn of democratic rule in Nigeria was one of the committed patriots who laid the foundation for the democratic governance in Nigeria. He was the President of the first Senate of the 4th Republic, and even though a young man in his early forties, Senator Anyim through his vibrancy, sagacity and prowess, restored the needed stability in the National Assembly.
"As the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), under former President Good luck Jonathan, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim coordinated one of the most peaceful, impactful and progressive governments in the history of our dear country, Nigeria."
Odii further stated that he was proud of Senator Anyim and what Anyim has "achieved as an individual, politician, lawyer and public officer."
Senator Anyim Pius Anyim who was the pioneer senator that represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District between 1999 and 2003 was elected Senate President by his colleagues and he stabilized the hitherto turbulent red chamber until the end of their session in 2003. Anyim was later appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation by former President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR. Anyim contested the PDP presidential ticket in the build up to the 2023 general elections and has remained in the PDP even though he did not get the presidential ticket.
