List Of Candidates For Emir of Bauchi Stool Grows To 19

JOS, July 29, (THEWILL) - 19 persons have applied to the committee set up by the Bauchi State government for the selection of a new Emir following the demise of Alhaji Suleiman Adamu Jumba.

Only three persons had as at Monday indicated interest after the remains of the last Emir was interred at a family cemetery on Sunday.

But the list has at this morning grown to 19.

The applications, CV’s and credentials of those interested were submitted at the office of the Secretary to the Bauchi Emirate Council, Alhaji Maidawa Kafi.

The committee headed by the Madakin Bauchi and District Head of Ganjuwa, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar has started sitting and is expected to submit its final recommendation indicating who scores the highest point to the state governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, before the end of the week.

Some of the 19 persons vying for the throne include the eldest Son of the late emir who is the Dangaladiman Bauchi and district Head of Jema’a, Alhaji Suleyman Adamu Suleyman; the district head of Galambi, Alhaji Shehu Adamu Jumba, who is also the Chairman of Bauchi State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board and Ciroman Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba.

Others include the Sarkin Yamman Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammadu Yakubu; the Grand Khadi Bauchi State Sharia Court of Appeal, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu; the Tafidan Bauchi, Alhaji Hassan Bashir; the Yariman Bauchi and District head of Alkaleri, Alhaji Abubakar Sambo; and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Barrister Mukhtar Abubakar amongst others.

The traditional king makers include the Madakin Bauchi and district head of Ganjuwa, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar; Ajiyan Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammadu Bala Attahiru; Chief Imam of Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Ahmed; Wamban Bauchi District head of Kirfi, Alhaji Muhammadu Ladan Kirfi; and Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammadu Usman Maidawa.
