ONDO/EKITI NANS JCC ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN, OTHERS

mmediate past Secretary of the National Association of Nigerians Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ekiti and Ondo States Axis, Comrade Aremo Gbenga Oyebode has emerged the new Chairman of the student body.

Gbenga Oyebode, a student of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, who was elected at the JCC convention held in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital today promised to work assiduously for the interest of students of tertiary institutions in the two States.

Also elected at the convention were Adebisi Adekunle, College of Education, Ikere as Vice Chairman, Adebayo Olumide, University of Ado-Ekiti as General Secretary, Oyegbata Olakunle, College of Education, Ikere as Treasurer, Abolarin Idowu, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic as Assistant General Secretary and Omowa Michael, Federal University of Technology, Akure as Public Relations Officer.

Student union presidents in six, out of the eight tertiary institutions in Ondo and Ekiti States participated in the convention. Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko were not represented.

The Convention Chairman, Comrade Oluyede Opeoluwa and Clerk, Comrade Eben Olasunkanmi described the convention as peaceful and orderly, adding that all necessary process were carried out before, during and after the convention.

The convention chairman said the elected officers will hold office for a period of one year.

The new JCC chairman, in his reaction said: “This is an opportunity to serve my fellow students and I what is going to be paramount in mind is the collective welfare of the students in Ondo and Ekiti states.”
