Animal Attack On School Pupil: Frontline African Literacy Leader Berates Anambra Case Of Devoured Pupil

Owners of schools, institutions and academic learning facilities have been chided on the keeping of predatory animals as pets within schools environment.

Amb. Enwongo-abasi Francis, 2021 International Literacy Association (ILA) World Top 30 Under 30 Literacy Honoree while in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital made a disapprobation in utter displeasure in reaction to the killing of a two year old Pupil by dogs in a school in Anambra State, Nigeria.

According to a heart wrenching report by Sahara Reporters, September 18, 2021, ten dogs feasted on a two year old Pupil in Global Growth Academy, Amokpo, Umuanunwa, Nteje in Oyi LGA of Anambra State.

The dogs belonging to the proprietor of the school, Chinedu Oka a.k.a Chinedu Okaa London reportedly pounced on the Pupil who was on his first day in the school for enrollment.

Amb. Enwongo-abasi said that Academic learning environment and institutions should be free from psychological threats that is capable of creating phobias towards learning among children and youngsters, citing the Global Growth Academy incident as a case study.

He noted that cruel animals as pets have unpredictable behavioral, social, nutritional and psychological complexity while living with humans and children are more vulnerable even into contracting animal borne diseases, as such should only live with animals of same species.

He further advised proprietors of schools and institutions who use their institutional evironment for rearing vicious animals to discontinue while calling on education authorities in the African Nation to roll up their sleeves in the monitoring of activities of school operators and their facilities.

In his words, the multiple award winning Librarian and Literacy Leader said, " Our Children and hope of the future cannot continue to dwell in academic facilities where cruel and dangerous animals are allowed access for whatever reason."

"The security of all pupils at all centres should be given priority. There are vulnerable children, disabled children and other categorized children in our schools and they all have their different potentials which will be of great consequential benefit and derivatives to the global society, and of course this is one of the reasons their parents and guardians want them educated."

" This is saddening and pathetic, I condemn in totality this negative happenstance and I call on the government, Civil Liberties Organizations, and other allied associations to arise against this ugly scenario and culprits should face the full weight of the legal implication of their acts." The literacy laureate added worrisomely.
