Lessons from the Tech-Relevant Project

Today we will be sharing with you four key lessons we got from implementing the Tech-Relevant Project and how this may impact your school.

The Tech Relevant Teacher (TRT) Project is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation. The project trained over 200 low-cost and middle schools (school heads and teachers) in virtual teaching skills and technologies introducing virtual teaching into low-cost schools.

Always conduct a risk assessment It is important to know your project in and out, know the overall process or method, identify hazards and risk factors that have the potential to cause harm, this what we call hazard identification. As a school, have you analyzed and evaluated the risk associated with running your organization? If another lockdown is ordered, would you survive? To grow especially in an ever changing world of tech, understand the odds and determine ways to eliminate the hazard, or control the risk.

Build the right partnership

A common saying we have is “Children are the priority. Change is the reality. Collaboration is the strategy. " we can not over emphasis the importance of the right collaboration and partnership. What are some of the ways you can collaborate with schools to strengthen your programs? The successes we recorded on the TRT Project is mainly due to a close collaboration between our sponsors and project partners.

Know your beneficiaries

Know the children, parents and guardians you work with. Study them, their lifeclasss, their challenges, and find ways to ensure that you alleviate or reduce the challenges they may face. One of the biggest risk associated with a reduction in securing new admissions in your school is not consistently evaluating your actions and inactions raised by the parents or guardians in your school. Know them, so you can promptly address their shortfalls.

Be passionate Do not give up! Be proactive and innovative. As with projects, especially the newly launched tech solutions in your school, there may be some hitches or turbulence on the way but keep on going. Keep your passion and persistence alive and focus on the goal.
