Man docked over assaulting woman in Osun

A 39-year old man, Idowu Samuel was yesterday arraigned before a Magistrate court in Osogbo, Osun State over alleged assault.

Prosecutor, Aderinle Olubukola said the accused committed the offence sometimes between the month of April and june at Biket Area in Osogbo.

Olubukola told the court that Samuel had a business transaction with one Funke David.

She said, the accused assaulted David after she approached him to pay her back the sum of N104,000 which he unlawfully took from her.

Olubukola argued that the offence committed contravened sections 421 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria 2003.

Idowu however, pleaded not guilty to the two count charge preferred against him and his counsel, Barrister Adeyinka Dada prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ashiru Ayeni granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in the like sum and adjourned the case till December 11 for mentione.
