Pronouncement Of Gani Adams As Aare Ona Kakanfo Is A Huge Mistake Of The Century We have waited this long to react to the recent pronouncement of Gani Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo by Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola

(III); not because of anything, other than for us to see the reactions of Yoruba sons and daughters.

However, the Coalition of Yorubas in Diaspora, (CYD) is appalled by the way and manner some notable Yoruba leaders have allowed themselves to be swayed towards supporting Adams’ Aare Ona Kakanfo title. While we hold high respect for Alaafin of Oyo and other Obas; we are of the opinion that due process was not followed in the pronouncement Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo.

Alaafin of Oyo, our father in a recent interview with one of the newspapers in Nigeria stated that the reason why Aare Ona Kakanfo stool was vacant was due to the fact that; he had not seen any individual who had the qualities of late business mogul, Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.

It however came as a surprise to all Yoruba sons and daughters that of all notable and credible Yoruba indigenes making impacts all over the world; only a morally bankrupt Gani Adams has met the standards set out by Alaafin of Oyo. We believe that some people might have persuaded our father, Alaafin of Oyo into chosen Gani Adams. Alaafin

of Oyo has always been a custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition.

Our father should not forget the roles Kurumi Ijaye and Afonja Ilorin played in the old Oyo Empire. Gani Adams has a reputation of biting the finger that feeds him. Our father should endeavour to find out what Adams did to Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and many other Yoruba leaders who have assisted him one way or the other in the past.

It's Adams' inordinate ambition to oust Dr Fredrick Faseun as the leader of OPC that led to the loss of many lives of innocent Yoruba indigenes all across the states in the southwest. Can a man whose thirst for spilling the blood of his fellow kinsmen in an unprecedented manner now becomes a Yoruba generalissimo? Certainly, this can’t be so.

The ignorant or should we say pretenders congratulating Adams today should endeavour to ask the people of Owo in Ondo state what Adams did to them some years back. Virtually all states in the Southwest were at one time or the other turned into warzone by Gani Adams all because he wanted to maintain superiority of his faction of the OPC.

One even wonders how a man with no means of livelihood, a parasite who traded Yoruba people for selfish purpose during the 2015 polls will now become our own Aare Ona Kakanfo. Something is definitely wrong somewhere and

Coalition of Yorubas in Diaspora (CYD) condemns in its entirety the selection of Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo. For any right thinking person to applaud the selection of Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo is the highest level of hypocrisy.

Is this not the same Gani Adams who relegated our traditional institution to the background by his refusal to even prostrate for high ranking Obas in Yorubaland? Now that he has been pronounced Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland; all Obas and other traditional title holders should beware of this desperate hoodlum who used the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC for selfish purposes.

While concluding this statement; we believe Alaafin of Oyo might have been deceived to name Adams as Aare and we also believe that our father can still reverse this. Failure to do the right thing; the ancestors of Yorubaland will not forgive anybody who has a hand in the selection of Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo. Blood of innocent Yoruba sons

and daughters killed while Adams engaged Faseun in bloody revolt will equally not forgive any individual or group of people who have a hand in making Adams Aare Ona Kakanfo.
