Cash-strapped Nff Gets $9m Lifeline From Oil Firm 

BEVERLY HILLS, April 26, (THEWILL) – Financial assistance from an energy company worth around US$9.2 million would be coming the way of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, over the next five years.

This is as the cash-strapped federation struck a sponsorship deal with the Aiteo Group, founded by Delta State native, Mr. Benedict Peters, is due to commence by the 1st of May.

THEWILL recalls that ex-Nigeria coaches including Christian Chukwu, Shaibu Amodu, Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavoen, Sunday Oliseh and the late Stephen Keshi have all complained about being owed outstanding salaries in the past.

BBC reports Amaju Pinnick as speaking about the financial boost thus: “This will make it easier for us to plan adequately for our national teams.

“It is important to note that this will also take care of the national team coaches’ salaries.”

Pinnick expressed hopes that there would no longer be a repeat of past problems with not being able to pay national team coaches that has troubled the NFF in previous years.

His words, “There will be no owing of coaches for the next five years.

“This lucrative deal with Aiteo will cover all the national teams and has an option of a one-year extension.

“We are happy to have a sponsor come in at this crucial time and this is a big boost for our football.”
