Gunmen Shoot Former Ui Vice Chancellor In Kidnap Attempt

SAN FRANCISCO October 05, (THEWILL) – A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Olufemi Bamiro, has been shot by gunmen in a failed kidnap attempt.

THEWILL gathered that the incident took place at Oluyole area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday evening.

Bamiro was rescued by policemen from the Oluyole Division who responded to a distress call and was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH) for treatment.

The spokesman of the Oyo Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the incident adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Sam Adegbuyi, had deployed the anti-kidnapping squad to go after the gunmen.
