Shuluwa knocks Gov Ortom over poor performance
Against the backdrop of lamentations of lack of finances to run the state,
Abu King Shuluwa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Benue
state has called on the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, to stop giving
unwarranted excuses about his government's inability to meet the yearnings
of the indigenes and residents.
Chief Shuluwa who represented Benue at the Revenue Mobilisation,
Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) said it would be better for the
governor to look for ways of proffering solutions to the problems rather
than the blame game he has been engaged in.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that Shuluwa tactically shut Mr. Ortom up by
saying: “You can deceive the younger ones, but certainly not we the
elders. There is so much money in the state. There are major markets that
are generating revenues for the government.
“What happens to revenues being generated from Logo and Zaki Biam yam
markets, where between 80 and 90 trailers full of yams are sold out to
people from other parts of Nigeria.”, he queries.
The party loyalist reportedly spoke in Katsina-Ala at the townhall meeting
organised by the state government during which he asked the governor to do
eveverything possible within his constitutionally guaranteed powers to
mobilize resources to cushion the hardship of workers and other indigenes
of the state.
He reminded the governor that his fond cries have not solved any problem
bedevilling the state since he assumed dutyas chief executive officer.
Ortom had lamented the challenges confronting his administration due to
the economic crunch. The governor had explained that the economic
recession in the country had caused untold hardship, leading to his
government's inability to pay workers' salaries and deliver on his
campaign promises.
