Additional 137,656 Chase Police Jobs, Now 843,008 Applications

BEVERLY HILLS, May 02, (THEWILL) – The Police Service Commission (PSC) has received another 137,656 applications, to have a total of 843,008 applications, as of 1pm on Monday, from candidates seeking employment into the Nigeria Police Force through its recruitment drive for 10,000 officers.

According to Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, 243,327 applications were received for the post of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), while 197,990 and 401,691 applicants applied for the Inspector and Police Constable (PC) cadres respectively.

From 705,352 applications, as at Tuesday, April 19, a total number of 202,427 applicants had applied for the position of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police; 169,446, for the position of Cadet Inspector and 333,479 for the position of Constables.

The application exercise is scheduled to close on May 13 and more applications are still being processed.

The commission recently said it would recruit 500 cadet ASP, 500 cadet inspectors, 1,500 specialist officers and 7,500 constables in the recruitment of 10,000 policemen.

PSC Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, in a statement last month, had declared that the application process has been smooth and transparent, adding that the commission was committed to making the recruitment exercise a huge success.

Okiro said the PSC would continue to make the process of the recruitment transparent and assured the applicants of fairness and equal opportunity since the commission is only interested in recruiting for the police the best brains in the society.

President Muhammadu Buhari approved the recruitment at the 2015 national security summit, saying it would help to reinforce the police for better service.
