LAGOS, Nigeria, 16 March 2016 – Ford Motor Company, is reaffirming its commitment to developing Nigeria’s automobile industry by donating two Ford Rangers to its dealer partner Coscharis Motors’ for their Automotive Training Centre.

The two vehicles will be used at Coscharis’ CG Eko LLP Automobile Training Centre in Ikeja to enhance and develop the skills of technicians in the automotive industry.

According to Eugene Prinsloo, the market manager for Ford’s sub-Saharan Africa region, “the contribution is aimed at promoting the growth of Coscharis’ technical skills and enhancing the product knowledge of Coscharis’ technicians at their training school.”

Sunday Tanimowo, Training Manager at CG-Eko LLP and beneficiary of the Ford Rangers, believes that the donation of the Rangers will support the training programme, thereby empowering the local community and leading to a technically skilled workforce that is more proficient and productive.

“It is our aim to develop the leaders of tomorrow’s automotive industry. In order to do this we need to provide proper training and technical skills development. Our aim is to motivate their confidence, boost their self-esteem and open their minds to the limitless opportunities available to them. They need to understand that they can achieve their goals and dreams on their career paths.”

Ford’s commitment to skills development in Nigeria is evident in this donation gesture which takes place as demand for excellent after-sales service delivery grows in Nigeria’s automobile industry.

Prinsloo noted that Nigeria is a vital market in Ford’s operations and they remained more committed than ever to the Nigerian auto market.

“Our commitment to excellence involves partnering with our dealers to share our collective passion for the industry. We are also keen to educate and empower the technicians for the future,” he explained.

Coscharis Group Marketing Manager, Abiona Babarinde agreed, “Coscharis Motors and Ford Motor Company have working hand in hand to develop the automobile industry in Nigeria, and this latest initiative is no exception. We at Coscharis are thankful to Ford for believing in our mission and vision. We look forward to further collaboration between the two organisations.”

The two Rangers feature 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi models in a four-wheel drive double cab specification along with a two-wheel drive single cab. Ford Motor Company made a similar gesture in March 2015 when we donated a brand new Ford EcoSport to the CG-Eko LLP Training Center in Lagos. The donated vehicles are not driven on the roads but are used for demonstration and technical training purposes.
