F.G unveiled its blueprint on infrastructural development.

The Federal Government on Tuesday unveiled its blueprint on infrastructural development to immediately begin to add value to the lives of the country’s citizens with focus on completing existing projects and contracts in the country’s roads, power and housing sectors.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, outlined the government’s plan for the country in the three sectors.

Fashola who disclosed this at his maiden press conference in Abuja, Said that he inherited a huge projects and contracts portfolio yet to be completed in the three sectors from the last government.

He noted that government would prioritise the completion of ongoing power projects.

"it would make no sense starting fresh projects now especially with government’s current lean revenue and indebtedness to contractors".

"the government would in the short-term pursue and finish existing projects in the sectors using meticulous procurement and funding strategies before embarking on new ones".

Fashola noted that he would consider setting up embedded power generation stations at industrial locations of commercial centres in various states.

“We will want state governments to help us identify and enumerate the very populous, industrial and commercial clusters in their states where we can provide embedded power. This will make life easy for those who are involved in manufacturing, fabrication and other related activities".

“Perhaps the tariffs here, honestly, may be slightly higher than what is obtained, but the truth is that there will be a significant improvement on what we have and we will need the collaboration of Discos to achieve this.”

The minister also spoke extensively on the government’s plans for the works and housings sectors.

He briefed alongside the minister of state for power, works and housing, Mustapha Shehuri; and permanent secretaries in the ministries, Louis Edozien and Gambo Magaji respectively.
