Tribunal declares Aisha Alhassan winner of Taraba governorship election

The Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hajia Aisha Alhassan,  winner of the Taraba State governorship election held on April 11.

The tribunal in its judgement on Saturday declared that  Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party was improperly returned as  governor in the election.

According to the tribunal,  Alhassan, who is popularly known as Mama Taraba, was the lawfully winner of the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party has been experiencing a spate of fortune reversals in the election tribunals, with most of those that relocated sitting to Abuja breaking in favour of the ruling party.

PDP has severally accused the ruling APC of using the instrument of the state power to intimidate and influence tribunals.
