Talakawa's Parliament Threatens To Sue Nigerian Civil Defense Boss For Oppressing A Poor Man

The Assistant commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil defense corps (NSCDC) Zone G, Mr Joseph Aragade is using his ephemeral, transient and temporal position to oppress and intimidate the poor in the terra firma as if it is crime to be poor.

On Sunday the 6th day of September, 2015 along Aduwawa Road before College Road Junction, the ACG's driver while reversing used his boss Toyota Highlander Jeep hit a man's car on motion from behind.

The man alighted from his car to ascertain the level of damage done to his car, the Civil Defense Oga at the top started shouting at the man that he was wrong, the man said to him, Oga your driver is wrong unknown to him that he is the ACG in charge of Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Anambra states which finally led to war of words between the duo.

Mr. Joesph Aragade had to put a call across to the Zonal office at Ramat Park, the Civil Defenders who are supposed to be civil in their dealing with citizens came to the scene, assaulted , molested and overpowered the man and took him to Aduwawa police station but the DTO on duty that day having taken cognizance of what transpired, told the NSCDC zonal boss that he was wrong and should apologize to let peace reign but Oga at the top insisted that the matter should be transferred to his command at Ramat Park, the DTO had to option than to comply because the DPO had earlier called him to decline jurisdiction on the matter when an Assistant Commissioner of Police register his sentimental interest on the matter.

As at today, the Oga at the top has not deemed it fit to release the car he impounded in his office even when we intervened from human rights angle, the recalcitrant civil defense boss said we are toothless bulldog .It is sardonic and lugubrious for the man to be a judge in his own case. A man cannot be a judge in his case, that negates the principle of natural justice in which the Roman puts in the two maxim " Nemo Judex in causa sua and Audi Alteram Partem"

"Impartiality and fairness" The case of Garba and others v. University Of Maiduguri (1986) is of strict relevance here.

We have no option than to address the press on the issue as follows:

1. If it is the duty of NCSDC to investigate a matter of accident?

2. If it is the duty of the Civil Defense to impound a car that involves in an accident without transferring the matter to the Police or Road Safety for further investigation to ascertain the right and the wrong?

We have vowed to defend the weak, the poor, the wretched of the earth and the Aminu Kano Talakawas pro bono publico from the iron grip of the rich and capitalist. Every other thing may be blind history is not blind.

We have resolved to sue Joseph Aragade and NCSDC to court. Fiat justitia et ruant coeli. We say caboodle rejectamenta to oppression, and homo homini lupus. From the blind passion of those who worship power, may Allah rescue the peasants.
