Senate Passes Record 46 Bills At Single Plenary
SAN FRANCISCO, June 03, (THEWILL) – The outgoing Nigerian Senate Wednesday in an unprecedented move never witnessed before passed a record 46 bills in a single plenary.
The bills were passed in about 10 minutes by voice votes having been previously passed by the House of Representatives.
The feat is almost half of the about 106 bills the 7th Senate has managed to pass since 2011 when it was inaugurated under the leadership of Senate President, Senator David Mark, who presided over Wednesday's plenary.
The Senate had earlier suspended Order 79 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders to allow the vote on the bill introduced by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang.
Senate President Mark asked senators who were not satisfied with the passage of the bills to raise objections in writing at plenary on Thursday, the last session of the 7th Senate, where a valedictory session to formally bring it to an end will be held.
