Jonathan sacks DG, National Sports Commission, appoints replacement

President Goodluck Jonathan has relieved the Director General of National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, of his duties with immediate effect.

Before press time, there is no immediate reason why Elegbeleye was sacked.

Meanwhile, TheCitizen gathered that a Director in the NSC, Alhassan Yakmut, has been directed by the Sports Minister, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, to assume office immediately as the Acting Director General of the Commission.

Yakmut has since assumed duty on his new status at 10am today at the NSC office in Abuja.
